Clare Altman is a printmaker and paper artist based in New York City. After earning their Bachelor’s Degree in studio art, mathematics, and book studies from Smith College, they moved back to NYC to work collaboratively with other artists and expand their personal practice. Clare loves working with paper and ink in all their forms—from pulling handmade sheets to paper casting, etching, letterpress printing, and bookbinding. Their most recent work revolves around jianzhi, a traditional Chinese paper-cutting technique, and explores the themes of home and identity.
